Supported Hardware - National Instruments

 

MATLAB supports M-Series, E-Series, USB, and many other types of data acquisition hardware from National Instruments when you use the Data Acquisition Toolbox.  This support enables you to use MATLAB as your single environment for data acquisition, data analysis, and application development.  See the table below for a complete list of supported hardware.

Specifically, the Data Acquisition Toolbox supports National Instruments data acquisition hardware that uses either the NI-DAQmx or Traditional NI-DAQ driver software.  MATLAB supports NI-DAQmx version 8.7 or higher and Traditional NI-DAQ version 7.3 using this toolbox. Refer to the online help instructions to determine which NI-DAQ driver version you have.

The table below lists the hardware supported by the latest release of the Data Acquisition Toolbox. If you have an older version of the toolbox, refer to the Minimum Version Required column in the table to see if a particular device is supported by the version of the toolbox you own.

Note: Some National Instruments hardware listed below supports both the Traditional NI-DAQ and NI-DAQmx software drivers. In these cases, the minimum toolbox version required will be provided for both drivers. Future releases of Data Acquisition Toolbox will support only those devices that can use NI-DAQmx software drivers. Hardware listed below that only works with Traditional NI-DAQ software drivers will not be supported directly;  instead, an adaptor will be available as a separate download. This warning has no immediate impact but is intended to advise you for future planning. Once this adaptor is available on MATLAB Central, The MathWorks will not be making updates to the adaptor.

Note: Data Acquisition Toolbox supports voltage measurements on analog input and analog output subsystems. On digital I/O, it provides static acquisition and control. If using specialized analog measurement capabilities (such as thermocouple CJC compensation and IEPE excitation), hardware clocked digital I/O, or the counter/timer subsystem are valuable to you, please let us know by completing the form at the bottom of this page.
